Faculty of Information Technology

The Master of Information Technology in Embedded Systems

The Faculty of IT is the largest faculty amongst the eight faculties of Tallinn University of Technology. The history of the Faculty dates back to the year 1965. Today the IT Faculty has over 2500 undergraduate and graduate students and over 150 experts in research and teaching staff. The facilities of the IT Faculty are freshly renovated and modernized in 2007. This offers the students and the faculty superb environment to conduct the studies and the research.

Faculty plays a crucial role in the Estonian economy providing education and training for software engineers, system engineers, computer engineers, electronics engineers, telecommunication engineers as well as information management engineers.

Wide range of Estonian companies and national agencies are closely collaborating with the IT Faculty of TUT in terms of research and development.

Information Technology in Embedded Systems   IVIM03

Stage of studies:              Master's studies
Programme capacity:      80 credit points
Nominal time of studies:  2 years
Language of instruction:  English
Degree awarded:             Master of Science in Engineering (M.Sc.)

The study programme is aiming to provide a complete overview of the Embedded Systems themes in order to prepare (or re-train) the future team leaders.

The goal of this program is to prepare students with a comprehensive understanding of the hardware and software technologies used in embedded systems. The program will strive to seek a balance between the software and hardware aspects of embedded systems, focusing on dependable systems for embedded control application. Complementary aspects on business and social skills are included to enrich the program's attractiveness from the point of future job prospects and career growth opportunities for our graduates.

Graduates may be employed as design, technology and maintenance engineers in electronics and telecommunication industries. The acquired theoretical based, practically applicable state-of-the-art knowledge of embedded systems technology at scientific level is a perfect prerequisite for a superior industrial career. Graduates can directly pursue a doctoral study at domestic or international universities.
